Mate I'm sorry I'm in New Zealand and there's truckloads of parts for Hilux Surfs.
Try www.trademe.co.nz and get one of the guys selling part in there to ship them to Canada.
Thanks. The only reason I ask is because I need new injectors and wanted to make sure I put the right ones for this mod in there to avoid having to buy two sets of injectors. Next question is where would be a good place to find the necessary parts ( preferably in Canada). I'm pretty excited about trying this out hopefully it works well.

wow, what a great thread! i live in nicaragua and it is really difficult to get aftermarket parts here. i have a 97 4-door hilux with the 3-L slug motor. having said that it has never failed me... even after having been submerged in water. jacked up one wheel, took out the injectors, turned it over, re-installed the injectors, and away we went. now my home made snorkel is totally sealed. i would like to install a turbo. here we have a lot of 4-runners with the 3.0 turbo. will this work the same for me?
Hi. I'm from the Philippines. I drive a LN166 1999 hilux 2.8L everyday for the past seven years. I had no problems with him. The engine is fine. No oil leaks. No dark nor white smoke. And ran almost 250000kms. My only maintenance is oil change every 5000kms. And of course under-chasis oil change if needed. Just recently, I felt that the engine is no longer running as it used to, most probably because of his age. So , I thought of putting a turbo on it. That is when I came across your thread. After months of looking for all the parts that I need, based on your instructions, I was able to install the turbo on my 3L engine. The first test ran was fine. I got a 0.5 boost, and you can really feel the added torque and power. But the next test, thick white smoke came out of my exhaust. When we checked the turbo, we found oil in the pressure side pipe from the turbo going to the engine. We haven't solve the problem until now. I followed every step you made, especially on the oil feed coming from alternator and oil outlet. Please help. Thanks!
Sounds to me like your head gasket needs to be replaced. White smoke indicates water. Due to the age and amount of kms on the engine it may have not been able to handle the added pressure from the turbo. Hope that helps.

We printed this thread a long time ago and gathered parts from a Prado. We're now in the midst of the install. There are a few changes that I've done that we'll document and post pics later. We installed the Prado heat exchanger that enables the oil filter to sit verticle, hopefully making it easier/ cleaner to change the oil filter. This also makes the turbo oil feed more tidy.
I put the pyrometer into the EGR block off plate.
Great article, I'm lookig forward to the boost. Won't be quite the same as my Cummins but anything will be better than it is now. :)
